Associate Professor Dr. Siddhant (Sid) Kumar of the Catalysis Engineering group at Delft University of Technology has received a VIRAN poster prize during the 2026 edition of the Netherlands’ Catalysis and Chemistry Conference (NCCC XXVII), held March 2-4 in Noordwijkerhout.

The poster depicts research into molybdenum-based catalysts for high-pressure CO2 hydrogenation yielding methanol. Molybdenum is introduced as a promising alternative to copper, which in general displays poor methanol selectivity. The poster presents catalyst preparation, characterization and activity testing at pressures of 60 and 300 bar, showing effective delocalization and monolayer formation and increased conversion rates at higher pressures.
