Eelco Vogt is Distinguished Advisor Catalyst R&D at Albemarle Catalysts and Professor of Refinery Catalysis at Utrecht University.
He studied Chemistry in Utrecht, and holds a Ph.D. in Inorganic Chemistry and Catalysis from the same university. His career in R&D started in 1988 with Akzo in Amsterdam. Akzo later became Akzo Nobel, and in 2004, the Catalysts Business Unit of Akzo Nobel was sold to Albemarle Corporation. In the 20 years since his start in R&D, Dr. Vogt has thus experienced a number of very different environments, from starting as a research scientist in a large Dutch-Swedish chemical company to leading a large group of researchers in a smaller US-based chemical company. He also spent three years in the Houston, Texas R&D labs for Akzo Nobel.
In 2014, Eelco Vogt was appointed Professor of Refinery Catalysis at Utrecht University. He has served a number of years as a board member and chairman of the Catalysis Section of the Royal Netherlands Chemical Society KNCV. In addition to being a board member of VIRAN, he is a member of various program committees in Dutch industry-government-academia consortia, such as ASPECT, NIMIC, and CATCHBIO.
Eelco Vogt is married and has three daughters.
